Capital on alert: Air India's Toronto flight gets bomb threat, days after Red Fort blast

NEW DELHI: Air India’s Toronto to Delhi flight AI188 received a bomb threat on Thursday, according to officials cited by news agency PTI. Delhi Police were alerted in the morning, and the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) at Delhi airport later classified the threat as “non-specific”. The message arrived around 11.30am while the Boeing 777 aircraft was mid-air, about four hours from Delhi. An Air India spokesperson confirmed a security alert was issued during the flight, saying: “On board crew carried out all the laid down security drills, keeping passenger safety & security as top priority.” The aircraft landed safely at 3.40 pm, and all passengers and crew disembarked safely as mandatory security checks were conducted upon arrival.The threat came days after, the blast near the Red Fort complex in the national capital killed 12 people and injured several others.
