Blamed for motor fire, farm worker crushed to death by landowner by car in front of son in Madhya Pradesh | Bhopal News

BHOPAL: A 40-year-old land-owner was arrested in MP’s Harda district on Saturday for allegedly crushing one of his farm workers to death under his car after blaming him for the fire damage to an irrigation pump.According to the complaint, accused Anil Jat, 40, rammed Vikram Kewat, 52, deliberately with his car, and then reversed to run him over a second time in front of his horrified son.The incident happened in Goyat village, around 125km from Bhopal. Vikram was entrusted with the responsibility of the irrigation motor. Around 11pm on Friday, the pump got burned, leading to a quarrel between Vikram and his employer. ‘Was crushed under car in front of son’ Timarni subdivisional police officer Akanksha Tallya, said, “The accused was angry after the motor got burned, and they exchanged words. Then, in the presence of Vikram’s son, Anil hit the worker with his car and then ran the vehicle over him, leading to his death,” Vikram was taken to hospital but was declared dead on arrival. “Based on the complaint, a case was registered against the accused, and teams were sent out. He was arrested on Saturday,” said the SDPO.The Harda superintendent of police visited the spot on Saturday and gave instructions to the investigators. Anil lives in nearby Nandra village.
