MADHEPURA: In a bizarre incident, an inebriated man allegedly killed his 26-year-old wife by biting her neck multiple times at Shyam village in Madhepura district, late on Tuesday. Police arrested Vilash Rishideo on Wednesday morning when villagers informed Gwalpara police station. The deceased was identified as Sushila Devi, wife of Vilash.According to villagers, on Tuesday night, Vilash and his wife had an argument when she objected to his drinking habit.

In a fit of rage, he overpowered her and then bit her neck multiple times, resulting in her death. After committing the crime, he left the house. After hearing the couple’s children — three daughters and a son — crying, neighbours reached the house and found the woman lying in a pool of blood. The villagers managed to nab Vilash and inform the police.Gwalpara SHO Ravi Kumar Paswan and his team reached the spot and arrested Vilash. Sushila’s body was also sent for an autopsy. “A case has been registered against Vilas Rishidev based on the statement of the victim’s kin,” the SHO said. The incident has sent shockwaves across the village. Villagers blamed the sale of spurious liquor in this region for rise in crimes, and urged police to implement the liquor ban effectively.
