Banas River Drowning News: Tragedy strikes Jaipur picnic group, 8 drown in Banas river, 3 rescued | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Eight men drowned in the Banas river located in Tonk district of Rajasthan on Tuesday, according to police reports.Three people were rescued and are now in stable condition, confirmed Tonk’s superintendent of police, Vikas Sangwan.According to Sangwan, the incident occurred when a group of 11 men, aged between 25 and 30 years, were bathing in the river and accidentally ventured into deep waters. “They were taken out and rushed to a hospital where doctors declared eight of them dead,” he said.The SP said it was not immediately clear how they slipped into the deep water.The victims were picnickers who had travelled from Jaipur, according to the official.Rajasthan chief minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed grief over the death of eight people at Banas river.

Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma tweets, “The news of the deaths due to drowning in the Banas river located in Tonk district is extremely sad and painful. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the district administration officials were instructed to conduct rescue and relief operations immediately.”
