AHMEDABAD: A 17-year-old boy, Aryan Asari, a native of Aravalli district, was questioned by the police on Saturday in connection with a viral video showing the crash of Air India flight 171 on Thursday afternoon.Aryan was staying with his father in Laxminagar, a neighbourhood located about a kilometre from the runway, where the flight took off. His father works with the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Ltd.The video, which showed the aircraft going down and bursting into flames, was the first visual that went viral after the crash. Aryan’s name surfaced three days later when a media interview identified him as the source of the viral video clip.Following this, a city crime branch team visited his residence and took him in for questioning. During the inquiry, Aryan reportedly said he did not shoot the video himself. He claimed that a friend had taken the video, and he had only screen-recorded it. He shared the clip with his father, who may have forwarded it further.After the questioning, Aryan was handed over to his mother. Attempts by TOI to contact him were unsuccessful, as his phone was switched off and his house in Laxminagar was found locked.
