‘Surrender or bid final Lal Salaam’: CM Mohan Yadav claims Naxalism wiped out in Madhya Pradesh | Bhopal News
BHOPAL: On Saturday, as Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav completes two years in office, he feels his one big achievement that stands out is virtually wiping out Naxalism from the state, even as Centre aims at freeing the country of Leftwing Extremism by Mar 31.“We have worked in all fields. But if you ask about one single achievement, it would be the elimination of Naxalism, a 40-year-old problem. People who indulged in blood spilling have either been eliminated or surrendered. We had a clear policy: ‘Either you surrender, and we take care of you and rehabilitate you or take our final Lal Salaam.’ This year itself, forces eliminated 10 dreaded Naxalites,” the CM said when TOI asked him what he would describe as his biggest achievement.“Three districts – Balaghat, Dindori and Mandla – were Naxal-affected. In 1999, a minister in the erstwhile Congress govt was dragged out of his house and hacked to death near the local police station,” Yadav said, referring to the brutal murder of Likhiram Kawre, transport minister in the erstwhile Digvijaya Singh govt, in front of his house on Sept 15, 1999.The CM claimed his govt’s prime objective in 2026 would be to double income of farmers. Asked if doubling earnings of the farm sector was financially feasible, Yadav said, “It’s easy. If cost of production of farmers is reduced, area of irrigated land is increased, it can happen. If there is improvement in agriculture and income of farmers increases, state will grow and our farmers will have a better life.”Asked how the Simhasth Kumbh, 2028, would be different from earlier kumbhs held in Ujjain, he said, “I’m the son of Ujjain and Simhastha for me is not just an event. It’s our identity. We will make Simhastha Kumbh 2028 a global spiritual event. It will not be limited to bathing in the Kshipra alone but a platform where Indian knowledge, tradition, yoga, vedic sciences and culture would be showcased.”
