SIR drive: EC extends roll revision deadline in 6 states; no extension for Bengal | India News
NEW DELHI: The Election Commission on Thursday issued a revised Special Intensive Revision (SIR) schedule for Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, MP, Chhattisgarh, UP and Andaman and Nicobar Islands following requests from CEOs.

In the earlier revised schedule, the Enumeration Period for these 6 States/UT was till December 11 and the earlier date of publication of the draft Electoral Rolls was December 16. Earlier, the stretching of all legs of SIR came amid reports of alleged malpractices in states. Instances include submission of enumeration forms by ineligible persons or illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in the name of dead electors, and login credentials of dead BLOs being misused to upload EFs signed in the name of dead electors.This is a developing story…
