UP BLO takes poison and dies, leaves behind video of ‘stress’ | Lucknow News
LUCKNOW: A 40-year-old booth-level officer (BLO) in UP’s Gonda district died Tuesday after consuming poison, triggering a storm of allegations and denial.While the BLO’s family alleged official pressure pushed him to the brink, the administration denied any work-related coercion and attributed the alleged suicide to domestic stress. A purported video in which he alleged pressure and ill-treatment by officials over SIR work was contested by the administration. Gonda district magistrate Priyanka Niranjan has formed a panel led by the ASP and the chief revenue officer to probe the death.
Vipin Yadav, an assistant teacher posted at a govt school in Jaitpur Majha, consumed poison at home in the morning. He was rushed to multiple hospitals before being declared dead on arrival at Lucknow’s KGMU Trauma Centre.Vipin was first taken to Gonar Hospital, and then referred to Gonda Medical College. There, his condition deteriorated rapidly as the toxin spread through his bloodstream, affecting his breathing. Doctors administered CPR in a last-ditch effort. Given his critical state, SDM Sadar Ashok Kumar accompanied the ambulance transporting Vipin to KGMU, following prior instructions from senior officials. Despite a half-hour attempt to revive him, he died.Before his death, a video recorded by Vipin’s wife surfaced on social media, in which the BLO alleged that he was under extreme pressure from officials assigned to supervise the SIR exercise, and that the SDM and the BDO routinely misbehaved with him. His wife, recording the video with their young son beside her, said Vipin had been distressed for weeks.DM Priyanka Niranjan dismissed the allegations. “There was no pressure related to SIR duty. Vipin completed 100 out of 800 forms, and work was progressing normally,” she told TOI . The DM alleged the video was recorded on somebody’s instigation and was being probed. His wife’s role appeared suspicious which would be probed, she added.
