Rajasthan paper leak: High court cancels sub-inspector (SI) recruitment 2021 examination | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: A single bench of the Rajasthan High Court on Thursday cancelled the recruitment examination. Justice Samir Jain’s bench had reserved judgment on 14 August after hearing arguments from all parties, which has now been delivered. The case had been pending in court for almost a year. On 13 August 2024, some candidates filed a petition seeking cancellation of the recruitment process. They alleged widespread irregularities and paper leaks in the examination, which they said resulted in injustice to honest candidates. Tanveer Ahamed, counsel for the successful candidates, said they would certainly appeal against the order. During the hearing, the state government argued that irregularities had been found in the collusion of only 68 candidates—54 trainee SIs, six selected candidates, and eight absconding accused. The government maintained that it was not justified to cancel the recruitment while the investigation was still underway. The state further submitted that instead of scrapping the entire process, action was being taken against the guilty, with the Special Operations Group (SOG) conducting the probe. On the other hand, selected candidates argued that they had appeared for the exam honestly and that many had even resigned from their previous government jobs for this recruitment. They said cancelling the entire process would deal a severe blow to the future of thousands of eligible candidates. In his order, Justice Jain observed that the integrity of the selection process was paramount, and if doubts were raised about it, continuing the recruitment was not appropriate. The detailed order is awaited.
