‘Mocked me over small house, barred AC room access’: Jaipur man wins divorce at 67; court cites mental cruelty by wife | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: A family court in Jaipur Metropolitan I granted divorce to a 67-year-old man married for 43 years, citing his wife’s continual suspicion and character assassination as mental cruelty. The retired govt officer had filed for divorce in 2021.The family court judge, Virendra Kumar Jasuja, issued the divorce order on Aug 5. Sunil Sharma, counsel for the husband, shared a copy of the order Monday, saying, “The couple married in 1982 and was childless. The husband filed a divorce application in 2021 stating that his wife wouldn’t let him sleep with her in the AC room and made allegations about his character.”The petitioner alleged that he was frequently taunted about the small house and lack of facilities such as a servant and cars. Sharma added, “She fought with her husband whenever he sold off older items lying in the house.”“After the marriage, as soon as she came to her in-laws’ house, she remained suspicious and was into assassinating the character of her husband every now and then,” Sharma said.“Due to domestic discord, he became mentally disturbed. None of the allegations levelled against the petitioner husband were proved in court,” Sharma added.In response, the wife stated that she never taunted or spoke harsh words against her husband. She claimed that her husband wished to live his life in luxury without her burden and she requested the dismissal of the divorce petition.
