WWE SmackDown Results & Highlights (8/22/25): Logan Paul knocks out John Cena, tag team main event, Randy Orton returns, and more | WWE News

This week’s edition of WWE SmackDown took place at the 3 Arena in Dublin, Ireland, as the company kicked off its European tour en route to the WWE Clash in Paris. The first-ever televised event from Dublin saw major stars like the hometown hero, Becky Lynch, Logan Paul, John Cena, and Charlotte Flair and was a spectacular night leading up to Clash in Paris taking place next week.
Opening segment with Becky Lynch
Dublin, Ireland’s own Becky Lynch, opened the show. At first, she showed excitement at the first televised WWE event taking place in her city, but immediately berated the audience, claiming that they did not deserve to be on TV. As she continued to rant about herself, Tiffany Stratton came down to the ring to confront The Man. Following that, Nia Jax also came down and engaged in a brawl with Stratton. When Lynch joined her, Jade Cargill came to her aid, setting the stage for a tag team main event between both sides.
The Miz & Carmelo Hayes vs The Motor City Machine Guns
This was the opening bout for the night, as Miz and Carmelo Hayes teamed up to battle Chris Sabin and Alex Shelly in a tag team match. Both sides went up against each other to put up a great show for the loud audience of Dublin. In the end, as Melo escaped a suplex attempt and delivered a Codebreaker to Sabin, he was sent out of the ring by Shelly. The Miz took advantage and covered him for the three-count to score the win for his team.
Charlotte Flair vs. Piper Niven
This was a singles match between Piper Niven and Charlotte Flair, with the Secret Hervice at ringside. The Queen engaged in a huge collision against the powerhouse star in Piper Niven. However, the numbers game proved too much for Flair as Chelsea Green raked her eyes when the official was not looking and led to Niven connecting with a Splash and Piper Driver to defeat her.
John Cena and Logan Paul segment
John Cena came out to a huge ovation from the Dublin audience. Just before he was about to speak, he was interrupted by the arrival of Logan Paul. The Maverick began to take shots at Cena, calling him a “professional pretender,” and vowed to beat him at WWE Clash in Paris. The Never Seen 17 fired back in classic John Cena style with his words, calling him a disappointment and knowing nothing about Loyalty and Respect. In his promo, Cena namedropped stars like Seth Rollins and AJ Styles that he wanted to face, but instead, Paul jumped the line, which he knew the fans weren’t happy about. As the heated segment came to a close, Cena dodged a punch from Paul and took him down with an Attitude Adjustment.
The Street Profits vs Tonga Loa and J.C Matteo
This was a tag team match on SmackDown. Tonga Loa and J.C. Matteo had Solo Sikoa and Tala Tonga in their corner. Following a captivating match, Solo and Tala attempted to run interference, only to be stopped by Jimmy Uso and Sami Zayn. This led to a tag team combination move by The Street Profits on Mateo, with Montez Ford finishing him off with a Seven-Star Frog Splash to score the win.
Aleister Black vs. Damian Priest
The original match did not take place between R-Truth and Aleister Black. Truth appeared on the titantron to announce that he took a flight to Dublin, Georgia instead of Dublin, Ireland. This led to the appearance of Damian Priest, who engaged in a brawl with Aleister Black following Truth’s message.
Drew McIntyre’s segment
Drew McIntyre came out to mock Cody Rhodes after it was revealed that there was no medical update on Cody Rhodes following his attack. He reminded the fans that he was among the few superstars to pin Rhodes, and next time he does it, it will be for his Undisputed WWE Championship. As the segment came to a close, Randy Orton appeared behind him and dropped McIntyre with an RKO.
Becky Lynch and Nia Jax vs Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill
This was the main event of the night. Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill showed excellent teamwork despite their recent rivalry against Nia Jax and Becky Lynch. The match was a spectacular sight, but saw Lynch leave Jax alone towards the end on her own. This led to Stratton delivering the Prettiest Moonsault Ever and Cargill doing a Frog Splash to seal the victory. As the show was coming to a close, GM Nick Aldis informed John Cena that he had spoken to Brock Lesnar. Before Cena could say anything, Logan Paul took him down with a punch. Also read: The Undertaker’s net worth in 2025, current WWE salary, Bigg Boss 19 contract, and more
