Trinbago Knight Riders captain Nicholas Pooran let his emotions spill out during a tense Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 clash against Antigua and Barbuda Falcons on August 20. Chasing a target of 168, Pooran struggled to find momentum and was under pressure after scoring just 10 runs off 13 deliveries. In the 10th over, he attempted to take on off-spinner Rahkeem Cornwall by charging down the track. However, he missed the delivery that spun away, leaving him stranded as wicketkeeper Caleb Jewell swiftly completed the stumping. Pooran made a desperate turn to return to the crease but lost his balance, and up falling forwards. Visibly frustrated with the dismissal, he thumped the pitch repeatedly with both hands before walking back to the dugout. The rare outburst highlighted the pressure the Knight Riders faced in their pursuit and the weight of disappointment from Pooran for not putting up substantial runs on the board. Cornwall, meanwhile, celebrated the crucial breakthrough. The Falcons bowler returned impressive figures, conceding only 14 runs in his three overs while picking up the prized wicket of the Trinbago skipper. Pooran’s dismissal proved costly for his side. Despite a late fight, the Knight Riders fell short by 8 runs, finishing second best in the closely fought contest.
