In what can only be described as a dream launch for Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda and a triumphant comeback for director Mohit Suri, Saiyaara has stormed its way into Bollywood’s elite box office club. The film opened to a solid Rs 21.5 crore on its first Friday, but it was the weekend that truly catapulted its fortunes. With Rs 26 crore on Saturday and a staggering Rs 35.75 crore on Sunday, Saiyaara raked in Rs 172.75 crore in its opening week — one of the most impressive debut weeks in recent memory. While the second week did witness a typical drop, the collections remained steady with Rs 107.75 crore coming in. The third weekend showed resilience, with strong Saturday (Rs 6.75 crore) and Sunday (Rs 8 crore) numbers, and even Monday held with Rs 2.5 crore, taking the 18-day total to Rs 302.25 crore.By crossing the Rs 300 crore mark, Saiyaara has dethroned blockbusters like Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor’s Padmaavat ( Rs 302.15 ) and Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma led Sultan ( Rs 300 .45 ) crore. If the film holds steady into its fourth weekend it can challenge films like War, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Tiger Zinda Hai. The film’s success also marks an emphatic return to form for director Mohit Suri, whose previous outings had seen lukewarm receptions. With Saiyaara, he revisits the emotional storytelling that once defined hits like Aashiqui 2 and Ek Villain. In a year crowded with franchise fare and mega-budget spectacles, Saiyaara has proven that fresh faces, strong music, and emotional resonance can still lead to box office gold. For Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, the success places them firmly on the map, and for Hindi cinema, it reaffirms the audience’s appetite for heartfelt storytelling.
