The 45-year-old tennis icon recently opened up about her views on cosmetic surgery, and while she hasn’t gone under the knife for any aesthetic tweaks, she made it clear there’s one specific reason she would consider it.

In a candid interview with Marie Claire UK, Venus Williams addressed the subject of cosmetic procedures with refreshing honesty. “If I felt like I wanted to feel better about myself, and that’s what made me feel better, I would totally do it,” she said. While she asserted that she’s currently happy with her appearance saying, “I would prefer to keep my look, you know,” Williams made it clear that personal empowerment matters more than public approval.“So many people are judging other people,” she added. “But if it makes somebody feel good, that’s all that matters.” The message would resonate in an age where even elite athletes are expected to maintain impossible beauty standards. Her recent return to professional tennis after undergoing fibroid surgery has made headlines. She missed over a year due to health issues but came back in July at the Mubadala Citi DC Open and earned her first match win in 16 months.

Venus Williams reveals details on her comeback and a personal message

Though Venus Williams has faced her share of physical challenges, including a hip replacement and knee issues she jokingly refers to as “aged 80”—she’s not done yet. “I feel young [for] my age, physically,” she shared, though she admitted her body hasn’t always made it easy. But despite the hurdles, Williams shared that she still loves playing. “Maybe there’s more. I haven’t played in a year. There is no doubt I can play tennis. I’m still the same player. I’m a big hitter. I hit big. This is my brand.”And while she prepares for a potential run at the US Open, she’s also embracing another personal milestone, her engagement to Italian actor Andrea Preti. His support, she says, helped fuel her comeback. “There were so many times where I just wanted to coast and kind of chill… he encouraged me to get through this and it’s wonderful to be here.”Also Read: Ana Ivanovic enjoys peaceful family beach trip after split from Bastian Schweinsteiger goes public
