Rajasthan classroom roof collapse: Vasundhara Raje puts blame on education department, urges statewide safety audit | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Following the loss of seven student lives and injuries to 20 others after a school building collapsed in Jhalawar district Friday, former chief minister Vasundhara Raje pointed fingers at the state’s education department for failing to prevent the disaster.Raje, who represents Jhalrapatan constituency in Jhalawar district as a four-time MLA, rushed to the site from Delhi along with her son, Dushyant Singh, the five-time BJP MP from Jhalawar-Baran. She emphasised that the tragedy could have been averted if the education department had taken preventive measures and relocated students from dilapidated buildings to safer structures. Raje’s criticism, seemingly directed at education minister Madan Dilawar from her own party state govt, has caused discomfort in the ruling BJP.MP Dushyant Singh took to social media platform X to announce that he was monitoring the situation and had ordered immediate medical attention for the injured. “While some of the injured are being treated at the CHC in Manohar Thana, those critically injured were referred to Jhalawar Medical College Hopsital (SRG),” Singh wrote on X. In response to the incident, Raje has called for an immediate structural audit of all govt schools across Rajasthan. She stressed the importance of identifying and demolishing unsafe buildings while ensuring alternative safe accommodation for students.
