BAREILLY: A man was caught on camera hanging his 8-month-old child upside down by the legs and parading him across the village in Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur district. The video, which surfaced on July 19, sparked outrage online. While no formal complaint was initially filed, police took cognisance of the viral clip and booked the father for disturbing public peace.Police said that the incident was related to a marital dispute between a ‘couple’ who got married in November 2023. The wife told police that her husband was demanding Rs 2 lakh dowry in cash along with a new car which led to the incident. On July 19, 2025, at around 1pm, there was a meeting between both families when the accused held his son by the legs, and swung him around the village like a spinning top.SP Rampur Vidyasagar Mishra said, “A legal action has been taken against the accused father. We are also appealing to the public not to physically torture children in case on any dispute.”
