BENGALURU: Ashwini, the mother of 18-year-old Divyanshi, one of the 11 victims died in the stampede outside Chinnaswamy Stadium during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s IPL victory parade on June 4, has filed a police complaint alleging theft of her daughter’s gold earrings during the autopsy.The complaint was lodged on Thursday at the Commercial Street police station. Ashwini stated that the earrings, which were gifted to Divyanshi by her uncle a year and a half ago and held deep sentimental value, were missing when the body was handed over after the post-mortem.“The earrings were gifted by her uncle one and half year back and Divyanshi always wore them. It went missing after a post mortem was carried on her body,” Ashwini said.What was meant to be a moment of euphoria for RCB fans — the franchise’s first-ever IPL title win after 17 seasons — spiraled into chaos on June 4 when tens of thousands gathered outside the stadium following vague, last-minute announcements about a victory parade.The city’s administration, caught unprepared, failed to provide basic crowd control or security infrastructure. The stampede occurred near Gate No. 7, triggered by confusion over pass distribution. Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic as rumours spread about exclusive access being granted at specific gates. Police sources estimate over 3 lakh people turned up, nearly ten times the stadium’s capacity.
