Former England fast bowler Stuart Broad showered praise on Team India’s captain Shubman Gill and asked why the youngster batted as an opener in the early part of his Test career. The 25-year-old, who has moved down to No. 4 in this Test series, has already smashed 578 runs in his debut Test series as India captain. He broke a plethora of records when he added 161 to his 269 in the first innings. Before this series, Gill’s highest score in a Test was 128; here in England his four innings have scores of 147, 269, and 161.“He’ll be wondering why he bothered opening the batting for the first bit of his career,” Broad told Sky Sports.“When he has come in at number four and done what he’s done, it’s outrageous. It’s incredible.“He’s not showing any obvious signs. I mean, I’m a bowler. I’m always looking for little technical things where you could try and expose them.

“He’s not shown any obvious signs of ways of dismissal. He’s played stylishly. The future of Indian cricket, the future of Indian batting looks very bright.”Even Virat Kohli posted a heartfelt story on Instagram for Shubman Gill, calling him a “Star boy.” He is getting praise from the locals too.Former England captain Nasser Hussain, while doing the commentary, said: “A hundred in the first Test, a double hundred and a hundred in the second.
