Bihar polls: Lalu files nomination for 13th term as RJD chief; 'messiah of poor returns', says Tejashwi Yadav

NEW DELHI: RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav filed his nomination for the post of party president on Monday. He is seeking election for the 13th consecutive term.Accompanied by his son and senior party leader Tejashwi Yadav, the 78 year old veteran leader arrived at the party office in Patna to complete the formalities.Speaking to the media personnels, Tejashwi said, “The messiah of the poor, Lalu ji, filed his nomination today for the post of national president of the RJD.”He added that there is a wave of joy among people after Lalu ji filed his nomination. He has already completed 12 terms as the party’s national president. Under his leadership, we are confident of achieving success in the near future.Earlier, RJD’s national principal general secretary Abdul Bari Siddiqui confirmed that Lalu would continue as the party president, amid speculation about a possible leadership change due to his health concerns.Siddiqui confirmed that he is fit and fine and attending the party’s programmes and other events. He said all the party workers and leaders were unanimous on Lalu’s continuance as the RJD chief for the 13th consecutive term.
