Honour killing in Jaipur: Man ambused, bludgeoned to death over inter-cast marriage; sparked blood feud | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: A 27-year-old man was brutally murdered in broad daylight in Jaipur’s Jaisinghpura Khor Saturday, allegedly by members of his in-laws’ family enraged over his inter-caste love marriage. The victim, identified as Govind Prajapat, was ambushed and killed near Pashu Hatwara Chowki while on his way to work around 10am.Police said the assailants dragged Prajapat off his bike and smashed his head with a large stone. ADCP (north) Bajrang Singh Shekhawat said the murder was linked to Prajapat’s marriage to Payal Saini from Parsawali Dhani last year, which her family vehemently opposed. The couple recently welcomed a baby daughter two months ago.“He was running a small tea and snacks shop near Jaleb Chowk and followed a set morning routine. On Saturday, the attackers — believed to be his wife’s relatives — lay in wait, intercepted him, and fled after the fatal assault,” Shekhawat told TOI.A bloodied stone, suspected to be the murder weapon, was found near the body. Forensic teams collected evidence from the spot, and the victim’s belongings, including a passbook and cash, were recovered from his bag. His body was sent for postmortem at SMS Hospital before being handed over to the family.Govind’s mother, Rajni, lodged an FIR alleging that members of her daughter-in-law’s family threatened them in the past and plotted the killing. She named Ranjit, Omprakash, and Ajay among the accused.Police said some suspects have been detained for questioning and preliminary investigations indicate the murder was premeditated. “The attackers picked a stretch of road where the victim passed each day. They followed his bike and executed the killing,” said a police officer.
