BENGALURU: A woman passenger was allegedly slapped by a Rapido bike taxi rider in the Jayanagar area on Saturday after she terminated the ride midway, citing rash driving, and refused to pay the fare.The situation quickly escalated into a verbal confrontation. In a sudden act of aggression, the rider struck the woman, causing her to fall to the ground.The shocking assault was caught on camera, and video footage has since gone viral on social media, sparking widespread condemnation and demands for action.The woman has lodged a formal complaint at the Jayanagar police station. Deputy commissioner of police-South Bengaluru, Lokesh Jagalasar said “The woman rider is refusing to lodge a complaint. However, we have registered a non-cognizable-report as of now. Again, we will request the woman rider to lodge a complaint so that we can register a FIR,” he said.Meanwhile, the rider, identified as Suhas, took on to social media on Monday, claiming it was the woman rider who attacked first. “Owing to traffic congestion, I took to inner roads which made her angry. She abused me and slapped me twice. Losing my temper, I retaliated,” he said in the video that again went viral on social media.
