UDAIPUR/JAIPUR/JAISALMER: Thursday’s plane crash claimed the lives of 12 Rajasthan natives, including a doctor couple and their three kids, and two pairs of siblings. What should have been the beginning of new adventures turned into a catastrophe. Banswara natives Dr Prateek Joshi, his wife Dr Komi Vyas and their young children – daughter Miraya and twin sons Pradyut and Nakul – had embarked on a new chapter in their lives, with dreams of a fresh start in London, unaware their journey would be cut short by tragedy.Dr Prateek had initially gone to London for higher studies. After three years, he established himself and decided to reunite his family abroad. Dr Komi had recently resigned from her post at Pacific Medical College and Hospital in Udaipur, eager to join her husband. She had joyfully discussed her plans with colleagues just two days ago. Now, the hospital community is mourning the untimely loss of a doctor who touched many lives.“Prateek came a month ago – full of excitement and plans. They went shopping together across Udaipur, choosing everything with the vision of raising their children in London,” said Lokesh Shukla, a close family friend and neighbour. Dr Prateek’s father, J P Joshi, runs a sonography centre in Udaipur, and his mother, Dr Anita Joshi, also served in the medical profession. The family was widely admired – not just for their success – but for their humility, warmth and deeply rooted values.Five Udaipur residents – siblings Shubh and Shagun Modi, brothers Vardi Chand and Prakash Chandra Menaria, and Payal Khateek – were among the deceased. Shubh and Shagun were going to London on vacation, while Payal was headed there for higher studies. The Menaria brothers – both employed as chefs in the UK – were returning to work after a family vacation in Udaipur.Balotra resident Khushboo Rajpurohit, who got married only five months ago and was going to the UK to meet her doctor husband, was among the victims. Bikaner’s Abhinav Parihar, travelling to the UK on a business trip, was also aboard the ill-fated flight.Udaipur district officials informed that the bodies were expected to arrive by Friday evening, after DNA identification is completed.
