Rrb Group D Result 2026: High court stays RRB Group D results 2026, PET schedule awaits next hearing

Telangana HC stays RRB Group D CBT results 2026, PET schedule likely delayed pending April hearing RRB Group D results: The Telangana High Court has issued an interim stay on the declaration of CBT results for RRB Group D recruitment under CEN 08/2024, affecting the 2026 cycle. The order was passed in Writ Petition No. 789/2026, naming the Directorate General of Training and the Ministry of Railways as respondents. As per the proceedings dated March 26, 2026, the Court has restrained the Railway Recruitment Board from releasing results until the next hearing scheduled for April 15, 2026. The development has created uncertainty among candidates awaiting the outcome of examinations conducted between November 2025 and February 2026.Recruitment drive details and current statusThe RRB Group D recruitment remains one of the largest exercises, with 32,438 vacancies for Level-1 posts including Track Maintainer, Helper and Assistant Pointsman. The CBT was conducted from November 27, 2025 to February 10, 2026, and answer keys were released on February 17, 2026.Results were expected in April 2026 in PDF format, with scorecards accessible through candidate login. The selection process includes CBT, PET, document verification and medical examination. However, the PET stage cannot proceed until the stay is lifted.Reason behind the court interventionThe stay follows objections raised by Apprentice (CCA) candidates regarding changes introduced through a 2022 order by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. Earlier, CCA candidates were exempt from PET and had combined theoretical and practical marks considered.Under revised rules, emphasis has shifted to practical marks, while NCVT/ITI certificate holders are exempt from apprenticeship exams. Petitioners argue that practical evaluation lacks transparency and seek restoration of the earlier policy framework. The Court has directed authorities to clarify the role of the Directorate General of Training in framing recruitment-related policies, which has become central to the dispute.Link to apprentice marking and earlier disputesThe recruitment process incorporates a merit formula combining CBT scores and apprentice performance in a 2:1 ratio. Apprentices are also entitled to a 20 per cent horizontal reservation. The petition challenges whether DGT holds authority over such policy decisions. This issue follows an earlier delay linked to the 10th versus ITI qualification dispute, which had already postponed the recruitment timeline by nearly a year.Expected timeline and candidate advisoryIf the April 15 hearing leads to resolution, results may be released between April 20 and April 25. Any delay in proceedings could push announcements to May.Candidates are advised to continue preparing for PET requirements, including running and weight-lifting, and monitor official RRB websites for verified updates.
