NEW DELHI: Reacting to the Air India flight crash in Ahmedabad, civil aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu said that authorities are on highest alert, adding that he is monitoring the situation personally.“Shocked and devastated to learn about the flight crash in Ahmedabad. We are on highest alert. I am personally monitoring the situation and have directed all aviation and emergency response agencies to take swift and coordinated action,” Naidu posted on X.

“Rescue teams have been mobilised, and all efforts are being made to ensure medical aid and relief support are being rushed to the site,” he added.According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, the Air India B787 aircraft VT-ANB, while operating flight AI-171 from Ahmedabad’s Vallabhbhai International Airport to London’s Gatwick Airport, crashed immediately after take-off.As per the aviation regulator, the flight had 242 people on board, including the two pilots and 10 cabin crew staff. It took off at 1:38 pm and crashed into a residential area (Meghani Nagar) five minutes later.In a statement, Air India said it is ascertaining the details and would share further updates at the earliest.
