BARC JRF 2026 recruitment: The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) has opened the online application process for the recruitment of 105 Junior Research Fellowships under the JRF-2026 programme. The application portal became active on March 10, 2026, and candidates can submit their applications until March 31, 2026.Selected candidates will undertake research at BARC and enrol for a PhD programme at Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), a deemed university of the Department of Atomic Energy. Fellowship details and eligibility requirementsBARC has announced an indicative total of 105 fellowships for eligible candidates in Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences. Applicants must possess M.Sc., Integrated M.Sc., B.S.-M.S. dual degree, or B.S. with a fourth-year research course in the relevant disciplines.Candidates will be shortlisted for interview based on valid scores in national qualifying examinations or academic performance. Eligible examinations include UGC-CSIR-NET Fellowship, JEST, ICMR-JRF Test, ICAR-JRF Test, DBT-JRB Biotechnology Eligibility Test, GATE in Physics, Chemistry, Life Sciences or Biotechnology, and JGEEBILS. The eligibility of scores will be considered valid as on July 1, 2026.BARC announces 105 Junior Research Fellowships with PhD enrolment at HBNI under JRF-2026 programmeApplicants must be Indian nationals and should be below 28 years of age as on August 1, 2026. Age relaxation of three years is applicable for OBC-NCL candidates, five years for SC and ST candidates, and an additional ten years for PwBD applicants.Fellowship amount and durationSelected fellows will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 37,000 during the initial two years as Junior Research Fellow. On satisfactory performance, the fellowship may be upgraded to Senior Research Fellow with a stipend of Rs 42,000 per month.In addition to the stipend, fellows will receive an annual contingency grant of Rs 60,000. Medical benefits will be provided under the CHSS scheme during the fellowship tenure. The total duration of the fellowship programme is five years.Accommodation in the institute hostel will be provided and residence there is mandatory during the PhD programme, along with payment of mess charges.Selection process and interview scheduleFinal selection will be based on performance in the selection interview conducted by the institute. Candidates shortlisted for interview will be notified through the application portal.Applicants are advised to read the information brochure carefully before submitting their applications. The online application portal can be accessed only through a computer or laptop. The closing time for each scheduled event on the portal will be 11:59 PM on the respective dates.
