Techie-lover stabs mom of two to death in Bengaluru hotel room

BENGALURU: A reunion of a 33-year-old married woman and her 25-year-old lover at a hotel in South Bengaluru’s Poornaprajna Housing Society Layout recently ended in the murder. The youth stabbed the woman, mother of two children, 13 times after she revealed her decision to end the relationship. The accused, Yashas from Kengeri Satellite Town, informed police about the murder after stabbing himself. The deceased is Harini R, a resident of Hemmigepura in Banashankari 6th Stage. Yashas, a BCA graduate and employee of a private firm, attacked Harini with a knife while she was resting in the room at 9.30pm on June 6, police said. Though she attempted to resist, Yashas overpowered her and stabbed her neck, back, chest, and abdomen. She succumbed to her injuries instantly.After several hours, Yashas stabbed himself in the chest in what police believe was a dramatic attempt at self-harm. Though bleeding, he contacted a police officer attached to Kengeri station at 3.15am. The officer alerted Subramanyapura police, who rushed to the scene and found Harini dead. Yashas was initially treated at a private hospital and then shifted to KIMS Hospital. After a day’s treatment, he was discharged on Sunday evening and immediately arrested. On Monday, he was produced before a court which remanded him in police custody for five days.Fight over breakupHarini married Dasegowda HP, 41, a farmer, in 2012. She reportedly met Yashas through a mutual friend at a village fair three years ago and their friendship developed over time, eventually leading to an extramarital relationship. When Harini’s husband found out about the affair a few months ago, he informed both the families. Harini was counselled and she distanced herself from Yashas, police said.Recently, the two reconnected and decided to meet. Police suspect that Yashas had planned to murder her, thinking it would be their final meeting. He picked her up around 5pm and took her to the lodge. After spending time together, Harini reportedly told him that she needed to return home and made it clear that she could no longer continue the relationship. Angered by this, Yashas attacked her with the knife he had purchased earlier.Yashas confessed to the crime, saying he could not bear the idea of Harini walking away. “If she couldn’t be with me, she shouldn’t be with anyone,” he reportedly told police.Dasegowda, in his complaint, stated that he had dropped Harini at her friend’s house in Kengeri and was supposed to pick her up later in the evening. When he reached the designated location, her phone was switched off. The next morning, police informed him of the incident.Subramanyapura police have registered a case.
