AGRA: Six people, including two couples, were killed and seven others hurt after a speeding sleeper bus from Noida to Gorakhpur rammed into a van carrying 13 passengers on the Yamuna Expressway in Hathras early Tuesday. The victims in the van were travelling on their way home to Rajasthan’s Dholpur district from Delhi to celebrate Holi.The incident took place around 4:15 am near Milestone 141. Preliminary reports indicated that the private bus tried to overtake the van and its driver lost control. The bus passengers are unhurt. Those injured in the van were moved to a community health centre in Khandauli, and three were later shifted to Agra.According to police, an FIR under BNS 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) was registered and both the bus driver and conductor, Arshad and Krishan, were arrested. The van driver had a narrow escape, police added.ASP Ramanad Kushwaha said, “Local police, along with ambulances, reached the accident spot. Further legal proceedings are underway.”Those dead were Dinesh Singh, 45; his wife, Sunita Devi, 40; Lokesh, 35, (from Dholpur); Vijay Baghel, 30; his wife, Pinki Baghel, 28; their relative, Nathu Devi, 35, (from Agra).Vijay’s brother-in-law Pawan Kumar said, “Last night, Vijay left Delhi for his native village in the van. He was accompanied by his wife, sister-in-law and children. He had recently started his own business and also opened a shop.”
