Apple has officially launched the iPhone 17e—the most affordable member of its iPhone 17 family. Priced at Rs 64,900 in India, the phone brings MagSafe wireless charging, the A19 chip, and double the base storage compared to its predecessor, making it a meaningful step up from last year’s iPhone 16e. The iPhone 17e comes in black, white, and a new soft pink colour, and is offered in 256GB and 512GB storage options.

iPhone 17e specifications: What’s new and what stays the same

The A19 chip built on 3nm technology powers the device—the same generation found in the standard iPhone 17, though with one fewer GPU core. Apple’s new C1X modem is claimed to be twice as fast as the C1 and 30 percent more energy efficient than the modem in the iPhone 16 Pro. Together, they help deliver a rated battery life of up to 26 hours of video playback. Wired charging via USB-C can hit 50 percent in about 30 minutes with a 20W adapter.The 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display carries over from last year, still locked at 60Hz—no ProMotion, Dynamic Island, or always-on display here. However, the front glass gets an upgrade to Ceramic Shield 2, which Apple says offers three times better scratch resistance. The design is largely unchanged—aluminium frame, Face ID via the notch, Action button, and IP68 water resistance. The phone weighs 169 grams, just 2 grams more than the 16e.On the camera front, the 48MP Fusion system remains, offering an optical-quality 2x telephoto crop alongside improved Portrait mode with automatic depth capture. Video recording supports 4K Dolby Vision at up to 60fps. The selfie camera stays at 12MP—no upgrade to the 18MP sensor on the iPhone 17 and iPhone Air.The biggest addition is MagSafe with Qi2 support, enabling 15W wireless charging—double the 7.5W on the iPhone 16e. This also opens the door to Apple’s full magnetic accessory ecosystem including chargers, wallets, and cases.The iPhone 17e runs iOS 26 with Apple Intelligence features such as Live Translation, Call Screening, Visual Intelligence, and Clean Up. Satellite connectivity for Emergency SOS and Messages via satellite is also part of the package. There’s no Camera Control button though—Visual Intelligence is accessed via the Control Panel instead.

The iPhone 17e starts at Rs 64,900 in India—Rs 5,000 more than the iPhone 16e’s launch price—with EMI options available at Rs 11,327 per month for six months. Pre-orders open on March 4 at 7:45 PM IST, and the phone goes on sale from March 11 across Apple Store online and retail partners.
