NOIDA: A 30-year-old man, facing trial in a 2024 murder case and out on bail, was dragged through the streets, stabbed and shot multiple times in front of his wife by four men in Luksar village under Greater Noida’s Ecotech-I area on Tuesday. The victim, Nitin Nagar, was the main accused in the murder of another villager, Vinay, who was shot dead on Aug 17, 2024. He was granted bail in August last year, and the case is currently pending before a local court, an officer said. According to a complaint filed by his wife, Shweta, Nagar was to appear before the court for a hearing on Tuesday morning. Around 10am, he had stepped out of their house to visit a friend in a nearby lane. As he was returning home and approaching the main road, three men allegedly emerged from another lane, armed with pistols and a knife. They first opened fire and then stabbed Nagar with knives, the complaint said.CCTV footage accessed by police shows several men dragging him to the ground and shooting him multiple times. The footage also shows a woman stepping out of a house moments later, while one of the assailants is seen pointing a gun at the victim.Police said one of the attackers fired at Nagar from close range, but he managed to dodge the first shot and began running towards his house, but was shot at by another assailant. As Nagar tried to escape, his foot slipped into an open drain near his house, causing him to fall. He attempted to get up, but two of the attackers caught up with him and knocked him down again.Police said one of the accused reloaded his pistol and fired four more rounds. A third attacker then reached the spot and repeatedly stabbed Nitin in the neck and other parts of the body. The entire sequence unfolded within minutes. In her complaint, Shweta said she rushed out of the house on hearing the gunshots, but one of the accused allegedly pointed a pistol at her, forcing her to retreat. After the attackers fled, family members and locals rushed Nagar to Kailash Hospital, but he died during treatment. The family claimed gang members of a local muscleman, Rajesh Ramola, were behind the killing and identified the accused the accused as Nitin alias Kalla, Vishal, Jitendra and Sachin.“This is basically a gang war, carried out on the orders of Ramola,” said a cousin of the deceased. He claimed Nagar had faced repeated threats and extortion attempts after he began doing well financially. “They were jealous. He was young, successful, and refused to pay. These are the same people who attacked him.” Nagar operated an RO water plant and an e-rickshaw agency. Eyewitness Ramchandran claimed Ramola tried to kill Nagar several times. “We complained, but nothing happened. Even today, he was standing on the street shouting that Nagar should not be spared,” he alleged. The family also alleged that Nitin’s tempos were set on fire six months ago and that his father, Vinay, had died under suspicious circumstances recently, with marks found on his neck. “There was no investigation in that case either,” the cousin said. Based on Shweta’s written complaint, police have registered a murder case. Additional DCP Sudhir Kumar said two accused have been taken into custody for questioning, and multiple teams have been formed to trace and arrest the remaining suspects.
