Massive fire at Hyderabad coaching centre triggers chaos; 80+ students trapped

HYDERABAD: Panic erupted on Friday morning at a five-storey building in Aditya Enclave, Maitrivanam of the bustling Ameerpet after a fire broke out in the commercial building housing an educational institute. However, all students and staff were rescued safely, and no injuries or casualties were reported.Officials said the fire control room received a distress call at 10:59 am. Thick smoke from the ground floor quickly spread to the upper floors, trapping around 70 to 80 students and staff inside.“Using ladders, we helped students climb down from balconies. Around 40 people were rescued while 20 others had already moved outside before the fire brigade arrived,” said Panjagutta Station Fire Officer (SFO) P Ramesh.Three fire tenders were rushed from Panjagutta, SR Nagar, and Secretariat fire stations. Authorities cut off the building’s power supply to prevent the fire from spreading further.“Preliminary investigations suggest the fire was caused by a short circuit in the electrical cables on the ground floor. Despite the building’s height, all occupants were evacuated safely, and the rescue operations were brought under control within half an hour,” added Ramesh.A senior official from SR Nagar police station confirmed that the fire was under control and no casualties were reported. “We have asked all nearby shops to remain closed for the day as a precaution,” he said.
