MUMBAI: Maharashtra government’s Social Justice Department has issued a Government Resolution (GR) cancelling its earlier GR that granted 5% reservation to the Muslim community, as reported by news agency ANI.The department issued a government order late on Tuesday cancelling the 5% SEBC (Socially and Educationally Backward Class) reservation that had been granted to certain sections of the Muslim community.The decision was taken based on court rulings and the prevailing legal position related to the 2014 policy.The quota was applied on admissions in educational institutions and recruitment in government and semi-government jobs.
