CBSE Board Exams 2026 Live Webcast: What every student, parent, and teacher must know, and why CBSE’s session today matters
As the countdown to the CBSE Board Examinations 2026 begins in earnest, over 46 lakh students from across India and 26 other countries are preparing to sit for their Class 10 and 12 papers. From 17 February, students will step into exam halls with dreams, ambition and — naturally — questions about what’s new this year and how best to navigate the final stretch. In a first-of-its-kind effort to bring clarity and direction to all stakeholders, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is hosting a live webcast today (13 February) at 11 am, addressed by its Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj. Therefore, with fresh changes in the format of exams and evaluation systems, this session is unmissable for teachers, students, and parents too!Why This Webcast is a Must-WatchBoard exams are important markers in any student’s academic journey, and any kind of change, however small, often creates anxiety. This year, though, the Board has made numerous important changes in line with the NEP 2020 and teacher feedback across India. Whether you’re in Class 10, Class 12, or part of your child’s support system at home, today’s webcast promises clear explanations from the source itself — something no second-hand explanation can fully replace. The session will cover modalities of the exam conduct, evaluation processes, new initiatives, and the Board’s expectations from schools — information that can profoundly affect preparation strategies, school logistics and parental support plans. You can watch the webcast live on the BoardExams@CBSE YouTube channel or via the link shared by CBSE. Bookmark it, set a reminder, or gather your school colleagues and family around it — this isn’t just another online session. It’s a chance to hear the Board directly, ask your own questions (if interactive), and remove guesswork from the most important weeks of your academic year. What’s New This Year: Key Changes ExplainedCBSE has implemented several changes directed towards making the examination a fair and stress-free environment, and aligning the Indian board examinations with the International and NEP Standards. Some of the major changes you must be aware of:• Second Board Examination for Class 10: In a dramatic change, the students of Class 10 will now be presented with another board examination opportunity, starting from 15th May 2026. This examination will be conducted after the mentioned date and will continue for nearly two weeks. • Section-wise Papers: Gone are the days of the traditional monolithic question papers of Science and Social Science! Instead, Science and Social Science are divided into sections: Physics, Chemistry, Biology in the case of the Science Section; History, Geography, Political Science, and Economics in the case of the Social Science Section. This change aims to make assessment fairer and more specialised.• On-Screen Marking (OSM) for Class 12: For the first time, Class 12 answer scripts will be evaluated using On-Screen Marking technology. This means evaluators will assess virtually rather than on paper, speeding up evaluation while standardising marking norms. Class 10, however, continues with traditional evaluation for now.• Faster and Better Evaluation: Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) have been further streamlined to minimize workload per subject for evaluators and to incorporate capacity building programmes and videos to bring accuracy and uniformity. Evaluation of voters will take between 8 to 10 days compared to the previous 12 days. The Bigger Picture: Why Stakeholders Should CareBoard examinations are not simply examinations but milestones that guide the next course of academic direction and professional scope. It is in such an environment that CBSE’s move to simplify procedures, adopt technology, and eliminate confusion would work in favor of students to deliver their best. For teachers, the webcast would help them better understand evaluation duties and deployment requirements. For principals and school heads, the webcast would help them better understand the requirements for compliance and evaluation duties. For parents, it’s an opportunity to understand how the Board is supporting students and reducing stress around assessment.Tune in today.
