FMCG giant Unilever eyeing GCC in Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: Global fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) giant Unilever is open to the of setting up its global capability centre (GCC) in Hyderabad and top brass of the company held deliberations on the issue with Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy at the World Economic Forum (WEF) at Davos.The CM, who is leading the ‘Telangana Rising’ delegation to Davos, met Willem Uijen, chief supply chain & operations officer on Tuesday. Pitching Hyderabad as the ideal destination for Unilever for setting up its GCC, the CM told the company’s officials about the rapid transformation that Hyderabad has seen to emerge as a global GCC hub.During the deliberations, Uijen indicated that Unilever would be glad to explore the setting up of its GCC in Hyderabad.Pointing out that Hyderabad is already home to GCCs of several global giants such as McDonald’s, Heineken and Costso, IT & industries minister D Sridhar Babu told the Unilever honcho that Telangana is known for its policy continuity, fast-paced approvals and licensing processes for businesses.The Telangana Rising delegation, which also included revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, urged Unilever to also explore fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) manufacturing in Telangana’s industrial parks.“Unilever is a prized partner of Telangana,” Sridhar Babu said.The Telangana Rising team also briefed the Unilever top gun about Telangana’s renewable energy, water stewardship and circular economy initiatives that were in alignment with Unilever’s climate, water-positive, and plastic-reduction commitments.
