GURGAON: A 41-year-old govt ayurvedic doctor was arrested on Monday on attempt to murder charges after he was caught on camera trying to run over a delivery rider in Hayatpur village. Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) doctor Naveen — who repeatedly ran his SUV over the Swiggy delivery rider — allegedly threatened to kill Tinku (43), a resident of Chandpur Ki Dani in Rewari district, during the attack, police said.Tinku was first rushed to a govt hospital in Sector 10 and was later referred to a private hospital in Rewari. The incident took place around 10.30pm on Sunday near a Swiggy warehouse in Hayatpur. Tinku stood outside the warehouse with his motorcycle when Naveen rammed his black Scorpio, fitted with a siren, into him.

Naveen, a resident of Hayatpur village, is posted at a primary health centre in Daulatabad. “Naveen said the delivery partner frequently parked his motorcycle in a narrow lane near his residence in Bhagat Singh Colony, which caused inconvenience while taking his vehicle out,” a police officer said, adding, “He carried this grievance for some time and attacked the victim in a fit of rage.”According to police, CCTV footage from the area shows the Scorpio approaching the spot with its siren blaring before hitting Tinku’s motorcycle and throwing him onto the road. In the video, some delivery partners can be seen standing at a distance and attempting to record the incident on their mobile phones.“The footage shows the accused driving at speed, hitting the victim and then reversing the vehicle before moving forward again to ram him repeatedly,” the officer said, adding, “He allegedly ran over the delivery partner three-four times before fleeing the spot.”In another CCTV clip, the accused is seen driving his vehicle rashly, smashing into the victim’s motorcycle and repeatedly reversing and accelerating to damage it further. Based on Tinku’s statement, police registered a case at Sector 10 police station under Section 109 (attempt to murder) of BNS. Acting on the complaint, a police team from Sector 93 police post arrested Naveen and seized the SUV from the victim’s residence.
